Karin Petro
Karin Petro, 53, Rochester, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1961, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Joan (Strepek) Janick. She graduated from Kelly High School, Chicago, Illinois and DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
Karin had worked in Treasury management Services for various banks in Chicago, Colorado and Arizona. She was a member of the Rochester Moose Lodge and had been Treasurer for the Intermountain Humane Society in Conifer, Colorado. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and riding on her Harley-Davidson and was active in supporting her local humane societies. During Karin’s illness, she and her family appreciated the outstanding care given by Christina, her caregiver, and Gentiva Hospice.
Survivors include her husband: John Petro, Rochester; parents: Robert and Joan Janick, Silver Lake; step-son: Jonathan Petro, Atlanta; brothers: Robert “Bobby J.” Janick, Chicago; Scott “Scotty” Janick, Justice, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home in Rochester. Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Intermountain Humane Society, Confier, Colo.
