Warsaw Ladies Roll In Track Action
WARSAW – The Warsaw girls track team home opener Tuesday night showcased another impressive effort.
Coach Scott Erba’s team rolled to a 94-38 win over visiting East Noble in the non-conference matchup.
The host Tigers won 11 events on the night to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Sophomore standout Allison Miller paced the winners with a pair of individual wins. The distance ace won the 1,600 in 5:31.87 and took first in the 3,200 with a top time of 11:52.98.
Also winning on the track for Warsaw were Mariah Harter in the 100 in 12.96, Tennie Worrell in the 200 in 27.84 and Rebecca Lemon in the 300 hurdles in 53.13.
The Tigers also won all three relay events on the night. The 4 X 100 team of Harter, Audrey Rich, Sam Alexander and Abbi Curtis posted a top time of 51.60. The quartet of Rich, Alexander, Worrell and Lemon won the 4 X 400 in 4:21.09. The team of Claire Kehler, Charlene Orr, Lauren Orr and Cassie Hoag completed the sweep by taking first in the 4 X 800 in 10:42.80.
Warsaw also won three field events on the evening. Rich won the pole vault by clearing 8-0. Alexander took top honors in the long jump with a top leap of 16 4.5 and Jazzmine Brown cleared 5-3 to win the high jump competition.
Alexia Day posted a trio of second-place finishes for the Tigers. She was second in the high jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Also placing second for Warsaw were Lemon (pole vault), Brown (400), Mallory Hooks (1,600), Kehler (800), Curtis (200), Anna Decker (100) and Emma Hayward (3,200).
Warsaw is off now for Spring Break. The Tigers return to action on April 14 by hosting Northridge and Wawasee in the Northern Lakes Conference opener.
