Two Arrested On Same Day With Loaded Handguns At O’Hare
Two men, one of which was an airline employee, were arrested in separate incidents involving loaded handguns at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago March 27.
Transportation Security Administration agents using an X-ray machine on the carry-on bag of James Long, 50, an airline employee, detected a loaded 9 mm Ruger ST40C inside around noon Friday.
About an hour later, agents found a loaded .22 caliber North American Arms Derringer in the luggage of Royal Bastian III, 68, of Rockford, IL. Bastian was traveling to North Carolina, according to a TSA spokesman.
Both men were arrested by Chicago Police and charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed firearm at an airport. Long is scheduled to appear in court May 6 and Bastian is expected on May 8.
