Max G. Gill
Max G. Gill, 87, Rochester, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday March 24, 2015, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1927, in Johnson County, the son of Clater E. and Mary (Smith) Gill. He was an U.S. Army veteran.
Max had worked at Chrysler in Kokomo, owned several restaurants in the area, owned Fair Oaks Campground northwest of Rochester, and had worked as a bartender at the Dugout Restaurant. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, where he was past Grand Knight. He enjoyed coin collecting in his spare time.
Survivors include his nephew: Don King, Rochester; great-niece and nephews: Rob (Julie) King, Rochester; Stephen King, Rochester; Sharon Grigsby, Bedford; great-great-nieces and nephews: Ashlyn, Emily, Hanna and Noah King, all of Rochester; Scott Brown, Tasha Brown, Shawn Brown and Jessica Brown, all of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester, with the Rev. Bert Woolson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Albright Cemetery, Kokomo.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
