Bernard ‘Bernie’ A. Sikora
Bernard ‘Bernie’ A. Sikora, 81, passed away at 4:16 a.m. March 5, 2015, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born on July 26, 1933, in Byesville, Ohio, to John G. Sikora and Josephine A. (Jurcak) Sikora. He was a 1951 graduate of St. Benedict School, Cambridge, Ohio; attended Ohio State University and graduated with his associate degree in business management from Purdue University. He was married Lois E. Dill, March 8, 1969, Fort Wayne.
He served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. He resided in Beaver Dam, since 1973 from Fort Wayne. He worked as a foreman for ITT.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and Elks Lodge – all in Ohio. He loved his dogs and enjoyed shooting his rifles. He was sitting outside to enjoy nature and watching college football especially Ohio State and Purdue. He and Mike had a great time restoring a springtime yellow 1966 Mustang. He shared in family time camping in the backyard, going to air shows and a special trip to Disney World in 2010. He gave a gold dollar coin for each year being celebrated of the grandchildren’s birthdays. He also gave them a gold dollar coin for every “A” they earned on their report cards.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: John (Beth) Sikora, Pierceton; Michael ‘Mike’ (Michele) Sikora, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Hannah, Sean, Alicia and Logan; two sisters: Joanne (Richard) Sebek, Chino Hills, Calif.; Therese (David) Compton, Westfield; one brother: Francis ‘Frank; Sikora, Birmingham, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his brother: John A. Sikora on July 16, 1941.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Titus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Pastor David Hummel, Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion, Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
