Glenn W. Grimm
Glenn W. Grimm, 93, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born on June 26, 1921, in Nappanee, to Harvey G. Grimm and Lenora (Stackhouse) Grimm. He was a 1939 graduate of Atwood High School, Atwood. He married H. Lucille Williamson on Nov. 25, 1944, in Anniston, Ala.
Glenn entered the U.S. Army in Oct. 10, 1944; served during WWII; PFC Glenn W. Grimm was honorably discharged Oct. 28, 1945 from Indian Gap Military Reservation, Pa. He lived most of his life in the Warsaw/Atwood area. Glenn loved being a farmer of grain and livestock, retired in 1988.
He was a member of the Atwood Lion’s Club and a member of Altersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood; enjoyed woodworking, shuffle board and golfing – he even made a hole in one at Raccoon Run Golf Course; he loved chocolate ice cream; had a wonderful sense of humor and was gentle and kind; was a loving and faithful husband and was loving and giving toward his children and grandchildren. He spoke of his wife and daughters as his three favorite girls.
He is survived by his wife: daughters: Sharon (Jerry) Forthofer, Rockwell, N.C.; Susan (Keith) Ring, North Manchester; six grandchildren: Gwen (Steve) Braddock, Johnson City, Tenn.; Matt (Tammy) Forthofer, Mooresville, N.C.; Brandon (Allison) Ring, Whitefish Bay, Wis.; Derek (Amy) Ring, New Lenox, Ill.; Adam Grimm, Fort Bliss, Texas; Ashley (Brent) Doty, Warsaw; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Helen Tucker, Zionsville.
He was preceded in death by his son: Alan Grimm, Dec. 27, 1987; brother: Warren Grimm, June 2, 1998.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, in Titus Funeral Home. Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry, Atwood Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood. Burial will be held in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
