Joanna B. Smith
Joanna B. Smith, 86, of Rochester, passed away at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester shortly after admission.
Born in Monroe County on Oct. 13, 1928 Joanna was a cherished daughter of Ivan and Mary Edwards Brashaber. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Carolyn and a brother Kenneth. At the age of 16 she graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1944.
Left to cherish Joanna’s memory are her daughter Lael George and husband David of Indianapolis, three sons: Tom Smith of Rochester, Greg Smith and wife Audrey of Anderson, Marc Smith of Trevoes, PA, eight grandchildren: Katherine, Rachel, Stephen, Andy, Tony, Angela, Reed, and Lily, four great-grandchildren: Caden, Liam, Talia and Everett a sister: Carolyn Smith and husband David of San Antonio, TX a brother Kenneth Brashaber and wife Charlotte of Bloomington. Preceding her in death are her parents and beloved husband Everett Smith Jr.
A celebration of the life of Dr. Joanna Brashaber Smith will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Rev. Maurice Grindle will officiate. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband Everett in Richland Center’s IOOF Cemetery. Friends may visit with her family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, and an hour prior to her service. Preferred memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or The Woodlawn Foundation, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
