Elkhart County 4-H Fair Green Committee
The Elkhart County 4-H Fair Green Committee is announcing a Community Service Project for the 4-H Fairgrounds. The Green Committee would like to get a 6-foot bench made from 100 percent recycled material to be used in the Heritage Park area on the fairgrounds during the fair.
The Green Committee needs help to collect the bottle caps that will be traded for the recycled bench. The Green Tree Plastics Company will provide an environment-friendly colored bench made from the recycled caps. The company requirement is the youth must be involved in the collection, cleaning and sorting of the bottle caps.
The Green Committee has come up with a contest for 4-H clubs and their members, which can be considered a community service project. It takes 400 pounds and $200 to acquire a bench. The 4-H clubs that collect and turn in 50 pounds or more of clean washed caps will have their club name placed on the bench. So start collecting now and be part of this green project.
Our goal is to collect the 400 pounds before Wednesday, July 1 so that we can have the bench for the 2015 Fair. The caps will need to be delivered to Jan Robinson, chairwoman of the Green Committee.
