South Bend Riley Sidelines Raiders
MICHIGAN CITY – The Northridge boys basketball team saw its season come to a close Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders dropped a 71-56 final to South Bend Riley in a semifinal contest of the Class 4-A Michigan City Regional.
Northridge closes out the campaign at 14-10. Riley (11-14) advances to play Crown Point Saturday night in the regional title game. Crown Point defeated Munster 58-50 in the other semifinal game Saturday.
Riley, which stunned Penn to win the Penn Sectional title last weekend, led 25-19 at halftime. The Wildcats opened their lead to 43-24 in the third period before the Raiders stormed back with a 15-0 run to cut the deficit to 43-39. Riley then pulled away for the 15-point win.
Junior Kurtis Hochsteler led the way for Northridge with 18 points. Senior Pete Smith scored 17 points and junior Christian Bach 10 for the Raiders.
Freshman Damezi Anderson and senior Jason Grundy each had 18 points to pace Riley. Freshman Sharmar Dillard scored 14 points and junior Reontre Lawrence added 14.
