Longtime Kosciusko Resident Turning 95
Betty Cone, Columbia City and formerly of Pierceton, will celebrate her 95th birthday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, with an open house at The Oaks, U.S. 30 and Wolf Road, Columbia City.
She was born Elizabeth Ellen Hamsher March 22, 1920, in Nappanee to Frank and Veva Hamsher. She married Charles Cone in 1943, and they became the parents of five children: Dana, Syracuse, Todd and Kent, both of Pierceton, and Garth and Carla, deceased. Charles died in 1997.
Betty worked at Ball Band, Mishawaka, and then at Robinson’s Grocery Store and Playtime, both in Warsaw. Later she worked at Whitley Products, Pierceton and also with her husband in their construction business.
