Just A Few Items For Kosciusko Commissioners
Business was slow for the Kosciusko County Commissioners at the bi-monthly meeting this morning.
The commissioners appointed Parke Smith as their representative on the Lake Regional Sewer District board.
Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock brought two grants before the commissioners. Both were reimbursement grants, one for training and the other to cover wages for Rock and his administrative assistant. Both were approved.
While Rock was in front of the commissioners, he was asked about preparations for spring flooding due to snow melting. Rock reported there are approximately 17,000 sandbags on hand at the county highway garage on Old Road 30, and he recently put in an order for 12,000 more.
He also reported that most of the towns in the county have some bags, should they be needed. He noted these are most often located at the town fire hall.
County Administrator Ron Robinson had a couple of items. On behalf of the the county highway department, Robinson submitted a supplement to the bridge contract which was brought up last month. He reported that Judge James Jarrette wanted to donate a statue of Lady Justice to the county in honor of all those who have worked for the local courts. Robinson also requested to purchase a new lawn mower for the work release program. All of Robinson’s items were approved.
