Frederick David ‘Fred’ Lukens
Frederick David ‘Fred’ Lukens, 88, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1926, in Wabash, to Frank Russell Lukens and Hazel W. (Kreiter) Lukens. He received his GED through the United States Navy. Fred married Geneva Correll on May 2, 1952, in Warsaw. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II.
He was a life long resident and worked in service/installation for the United Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He had been a former member of the Masonic Lodge and he loved to fish.
He is survived by two sons: Scott (Lisa) Lukens, Pierceton; Jon (Belinda) Lukens, Warsaw; daughter: Valerie (Dave) Shull, Syracuse; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law: Roy Wilson, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Geneva Lukens, Sept. 29, 2007; three sisters: Lois Purdy; Alice Lukens; Frances Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
