By CYNTHIA L. CATES
Executive Director, Kosciusko Literacy Services
Did you know that Warsaw has had two book burnings? Kosciusko Literacy Services will launch The Big Read featuring Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” on Monday, March 16, with “Censorship On Trial,” a panel that will explore the role of censorship and will tackle the topic “Should books be banned?”
Panelists include Jack Musgrave, a retired teacher who experienced the 1977 Warsaw book burning; Steve Henn, a teacher and author of The 30th Anniversary Warsaw Community Commemorative Book Burning; and Lori Roe and Rebecca Faught, professors at Ivy Tech Community College.
Join the community book read and come to Censorship on Trial at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 16, in the Old Courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Indiana Humanities and the TCU Foundation are also sponsors of The Big Read.
