Bernard G. Busart
Bernard G Busart, 83, of Culver, passed away on Monday, March 2, surrounded by his family.
Bernie was born on June 1, 1931 in Culver, one of four children born to Walter and Marguerite (Meehan) Busart. After being raised in Culver and graduating from Culver Community High School he wed Sue Henderson on April 11, 1952, having met the love of his life while they were in high school. Together they raised two children.
Bernie proudly served for 37 years in the US Army attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Bernie concurrently worked at McCord Corporation in Plymouth as a Plant Superintendent for 33 years. In 1970, he and Sue began to operate Ideal Cleaners. Together with their daughter Andrea they served Culver and the surrounding areas for over 40 years.
Bernie was a believer in community service. He served as President of the Culver Town Council, Marshall County Democratic Chairman, member of the Culver Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, and was an active member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church. In his later years one of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandson Matthew.
Bernie is survived by his wife: Sue Busart, Culver; his son: Michael (Vickie) Busart, Culver; grandson: Matthew Busart, Culver, step-grandchildren Michael Palm, Culver; Melanie Palm, Culver; and Mariah Palm, Culver; and his sister: Martha (Bill) Shaw, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Andrea, and 2 sisters.
A time of visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Culver. Father Jeff Largent will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery.
