Owen Marion Snyder
Owen Marion Snyder, 76, of Cromwell, passed away at 5:43 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1938, in Fort Wayne, to Marion and Orleta (Schwartz) Snyder.
He grew up in Fort Wayne, graduated from South Side High School and was in the Army National Guard. On Nov. 21, 1980, in Cromwell, he was married to Peggy Eileen (Peace) Overfelt who preceded him in death on July 19, 2007. He lived most of his life in the Kosciusko/Noble County area except for nine years in Ashby, Mass. He formerly worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 12 years and was a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Syracuse.
He is survived by a daughter: Sheila Pelletier, Templeton, Mass.; two sons: Gregory Snyder, Leominster, Mass. Phillip Snyder, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters: Debbie Smith, Indianapolis; Darla (Odell) Frasure, Milford; Marcia (Marty) Nading, Indianapolis; stepson: Dan (Cathy) Overfelt, Waynetown; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, wife, daughter: Linda Stout; step son: Mike Overfelt; stepdaughter: Marlene Overfelt; and brother: Neil Snyder.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at the funeral home with Pastor William Whitaker of the Warsaw Family Worship Center officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery, 1109 Hartzell Rd., New Haven.
Memorial bequest may be given to Fraternal Order of Eagles (Thanksgiving Fund), 12889 N. Kern Rd., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
