Warsaw High School Student Places First At WorkOne Comp

WorkOne is please to announce the results of career development competitions among region two high school students that occurred during the Northern Indiana Career Development Conference. The Jobs for America’s Graduates students who earned first and second places in each competition have been invited to represent region two at the Indiana Career Development Conference, slated for Friday, March 13 in Indianapolis.This conference will feature competitions among JAG students from across the state’s 12 economic growth regions.
“The CDC is a competitive event in order to accomplish vital elements necessary for young people to strengthen their skills and decision-making capabilities, including thorough preparation as well as feeling pressures and rewards of a simulated workplace,” said Chuck Knebl, WorkOne Region Two communications manager. “Officials are pleased with skills growth that occurred for most students when they experienced a taste of employment duties, pressures and importantly, surges of self-confidence, allowing them to glimpse a bit of post-high school situations they will face.”
One Kosciusko County student has qualified for the Indiana Career Development Conference. Kaitlyn Warren of Warsaw High School, placed first in the Career Presentation competition at the CDC. Warren’s Professional JAG Specialist is Tara Akers.
The region two CDC was held on Thursday, Feb. 5 and Friday, Feb. 13 at the Lerner Theater in Elkhart. In each career-development category, students competed under published scoring protocols and they were judged by professionals from the Northern Indiana economic sectors such as banking, insurance, education, government, healthcare, media, economic development, human resources and social services.
