UPDATE: Mentone Fire Responding To House Fire
Mentone Fire Department was called shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, to a home owned by Ron Batten at 6520 S. SR 19, Mentone. Three occupants were at the residence at the time of the fire and were able to exit the home without injury.
The names of the occupants were not available.
Fire Chief Mike Yazel reports the fire started in a bedroom and the cause is undetermined at this time. Firefighters did contain the fire to the bedroom, however, the home sustained heat and smoke damage. Damage has been estimated up to $40,000.
The American Red Cross, Kosciusko County Chapter, was called to assist with housing for the occupants.
Mentone called for a full assist from Burket Fire Department with tanker assistance from Akron. The county’s fire investigation team, Squad 70, was called to assist in the investigation.
Mentone firefighters were at the scene until 3:56 a.m.
Mentone Fire Department and Mentone EMS are responding to a house fire on SR 19.
The home is located at 6520 South SR 19, Mentone.
Burket Fire Department was called for a full assist with Henry Township from Fulton County providing additional tanker assistance.
No one was injured in the fire.
