Terry L. Goodrich
Terry L. Goodrich, 74, of South Whitley, passed away at 2:08 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Granville, Ohio, a son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Bonnett) Goodrich. His formative years were spent in Granville. The family later moved to Columbia City where he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1959. He then earned his associates degree in accounting from International Business College in Fort Wayne.
A career long accountant, he began his work career at Johnson Brothers Sign Company in South Whitley for five years. He then worked for United Telephone for two years before being hired by the Indiana State Board of Accounts, where he worked as an auditor for 35 years.
On June 24, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dixie K. Florey. They have always made their home in South Whitley.
He was an avid golfer and loved Ohio State University sports. With his roots as a buckeye, he was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. His memberships included Eberhard Lutheran Church and a 40 year member of the South Whitley Lions Club.
Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters: Scarlett Garrity, Las Vegas; Betsy Goodrich, Fort Wayne; Dawn Goodrich, Waynedale; two grandchildren: Kirstenn (David) Kimmel and Jordan Garrity; two great-grandchildren: David Kimmel, Jr. and Maxwell Kimmel; and a brother: Donald Goodrich, Delmont, Pa.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Kenneth Goodrich; and two sisters: Shirley Allen and Pauline Goodrich.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Eberhard Lutheran Church.
