Rex Leroy Evans
Rex Leroy Evans, 76, of Warsaw, passed away at 4:26 a.m. Feb. 10, 2015, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1938, in Warsaw, to Charles S. Evans and Dorothy A. (Engle) Evans. Rex was a 1956 graduate of Claypool High School. He married Peggy J. Creger on Feb. 19, 1984, in Warsaw. On Nov. 14, 1957 entered the United States Air Force. A1c Rex Leroy Evans was honorably discharged Nov. 13, 1963 from Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas.
He lifetime Warsaw resident. He worked as a carpenter for Carpenter Local Union #615 for 35 years, retiring in 2002. Rex was a member of the Warsaw America Legion Post #49 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed bowling and was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
He is survived by his daughter: Marie Evans, Fort Wayne; son: Paul Evans, Warsaw; step-children: Patricia Jacobs, Warsaw; Robert (Mary Beth) Stelton, Warsaw; Elaine (Ron) Trumbull, Warsaw; Linda (Tom) Stapleton, Lake City, Fla.; Sherry (Leonard) Blanton, Rochester; brother: Max Evans, Warsaw; three sisters: Phyllis Engle, Claypool; Evelyn (Max) Julian, Warsaw; Rita Hall, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Peggy Evans, March 24, 2010; step-daughter: Paula Meadows, Sept. 19, 2010; daughter: Brenda Evans, April 16, 2002.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Conelley, Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
