Meredith Lavon Parker
Meredith Lavon Parker, 83, Claypool, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1931, in Burlington, to Russell Lee Parker and Elsie May (Barber) Parker. On June 21, 1957, he was married to Betty Ann (Crothers) Parker, who survives in Claypool.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He farmed his entire life, for the past 40 years in the Claypool area. He was a member of New Life Christian Church and World Outreach of Warsaw.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Betty Ann Parker, Claypool; two sons: Tony (Sharon) Parker, Waveland; Thomas (Tracy) Parker, Warsaw; five daughters: Karen (Douglas) Foulks, Des Moines, Iowa; Janet (David) Jones, Lucas, Ohio; Lori (Bruce) Spangle, Claypool; Peggy (Donald) Roulo, Pierceton; Patty (Edgar) Wolfe, Las Vegas, Nev.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his brother: Jim Parker, Michigan Town.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Basil and David Parker; and his sister: Wilma McCain.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, and will be officiated by Pastor John B. Lowe at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard.
