Buddy Guy Comes To Honeywell Center
By HAYLEY BEAUCHAMP
The Honeywell Center
New to the Honeywell Center, longtime Blues artist Buddy Guy will make his first appearance on the Ford Theater stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
Having influenced blues guitarists Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy will be among a number of artists, including George Harrison and the Bee Gees, who will be receiving a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award during the festivities surrounding the Grammy Awards that is set to air on CBS on February 8th.
Guy’s impressive talent has earned him five Grammy Awards, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, numerous Blues Music Awards- more than any other blues artist in history, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked him among the ”100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and his song “Stone Crazy” as one of the “100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.”
In the 1960’s Guy began his career as a studio session musician at the legendary Chess Records in Chicago, where he played backup for dozens of blues musicians including the likes of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters. Soon, he emerged to forefront of the stage where his cutting electric guitar style and passionate vocals captured the attention of a growing number of rock musicians. Admired and respected among his peers, Guy has been lauded by artist Eric Clapton, who calls Guy “by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive.” Guy is considered a major guitar influence among blues and rock icons alike.
Tickets for the Buddy Guy concert are: $36, $56, and $100 and may be purchased at the Honeywell Center box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, by calling (260) 563-1102 or visiting www.honeywellcenter.org.
