Strong Start Key In Wawasee Win
LAGRANGE – The Wawasee boys basketball team got back into the win column in a big way Saturday.
The Warriors used a red-hot start to post a convincing 62-40 win at Lakeland.
Wawasee, which dropped its seventh in a row at Concord Friday night, led 18-3 after the first quarter. The Warriors were up 33-21 at halftime and 52-28 after a big third period effort.
The duo of Gage Reinhard and Alex Clark each scored 13 points to lead the winners.
Jayce Boatwright netted nine points for the Warriors. Stori Bright had eight points and Aaron Voirol seven.
Cole Harp led Lakeland with 15 points.
Wawasee improves to 6-8, while the Lakers fall to 2-15 with their fifth straight loss.
Wawasee won the junior varsity contest 33-30.
Wawasee plays at Bremen Tuesday night in a girls/boys doubleheader. Lakeland hosts Churubusco Friday.
