Science Central is proud to announce its 20th Anniversary year of celebrations. To commemorate this milestone in the science center’s history, Science Central invites the Fort Wayne community to participate in a series of fun events and exciting activities being held throughout 2015.
“It’s exciting to know that Science Central has been a significant part of the region’s cultural and educational attractions,” said Martin S. Fisher, executive director at Science Central. “For 20 years, we’ve been here for our visitors, making science fun and showing real world connections.”
Kicking off the year was the debut of Science Central’s Birthday logo unveiled at “Countdown to Noon,” the center’s annual New Year’s Eve Celebration, on December 31, 2014. The birthday logo ties together Science Central’s logo and the history of City Light and Power, which houses the popular science center. The birthday logo, featured on Science Central’s website and in many of its marketing materials will be in use from now until Thursday, Dec. 31.
Next up on Science Central’s roster of celebratory events is “Mystery at the Museum, My Cold Hearted Valentine.” Set on-site at Science Central, this adult-only murder mystery invites event attendees to use their science skills to investigate a murder that has taken place at the science center. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 13. Ticket and pricing information can be found at www.sciencecentral.org.
Each year Science Central hosts three traveling exhibitions. This year the center is pulling out all the stops. Following “Expedition Earth” is “The Evolving Universe,” this series of deep space images was taken by NASA’s space telescope and was created by the Smithsonian Institution. It will run Saturday, May 23 – Sunday, Sep. 13. Rounding out the year is “Amazing Maize.” This agricultural themed exhibition looks at the development of corn from a variety of disciplines in both the physical and social sciences. “Amazing Maize” runs from Saturday, Sept. 19 through the beginning of 2016.
