Lancers Notch League Win
GOSHEN – The Grace College men’s basketball team bounced back with a strong win on the road Saturday afternoon with a 73-63 conference win at Goshen.
The Lancers (18-6, 8-4 Crossroads League) started out hot in the first half shooting 57 percent from the field and 55 percent from beyond the arc, while holding the Maple Leafs to 42 percent from the field and 28 percent from 3-point range. The Lancers lockdown perimeter defense was able to keep the Maple Leafs from making any sort of rally by forcing eight steals.
The Lancers took the lead at the 14:54 mark in the first half and never looked back, as Brandon Vanderhegghen led the Lancers with a game high 18 points.
Vanderhegghen led the Lancers in points (18), rebounds (7), assists (5), and steals (3). Senior Niko Reed also contributed 15 points, while Kyle Fillman and senior Dennis Williams each added 8 points.
The Lancers will look to build off of this tough road win and head back to the MOCC Tuesday night, as they welcome the Spring Arbor Cougars at 7 p.m.
