TVHS Senior Making The Most Of Opportunities
Senior year of high school is a tricky time. Individuals must balance making friends and having a social life with making wise decisions to set them up for future success.
Micah Bradley is a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School is the exception to the norm. Micah was homeschooled until he was a sophomore. He is the youngest of fours children, and his transition to TVHS made him the first child in his family to attend a traditional high school.
He has already completed over a semester’s worth of college courses through Grace College’s Jumpstart Program, which allows high-achieving high school students at TVHS take dual credit courses. For most people who attend college, the transition from a high school workload to that which is expected in the university setting can be difficult and stressful. Micah will walk onto campus next year with a whole semester already under his belt.
This amount of school work must eat up all of the high schooler’s time, right? Even if Micah finds the workload taxing, it is not apparent. He is also a intern with the TVHS technology department, where he helps program and fix the tablets that are now distributed to every student in the high school. “I am the go to guy if your tablet is broken,” Micah stated with a grin. He also films the girls basketball and boys football games, serves on student council and is an active member of First Baptist Church in Mentone.
But wait, theres more. Micah serves on the Tippecanoe Valley Community Mental Health Task Force, which aims to boost the mental state of the community through fundraising events and guest speakers. He is also a part of the Young Entrepeneurs Academy and the Peer Facilitators Program at TVHS.
Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation Superintendent Brett Boggs says of Bradley “It has been my privilege to meet and get to know Micah Bradley the past couple of years. He is a very capable, personable, quietly confident young man with strong personal character and integrity. As one of two student representatives on the Tippecanoe Valley Community Mental Health Task Force I have seen how much he cares for others. As a peer facilitator and a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, his leadership skills are rapidly blooming as he prepares for life beyond high school.”
TVHS Principal Dr. Michael Bendicsen echoed Boggs by saying, “Micah is a very good example of a young man who has maximized his time in high school. He has taken advantage of all the opportunities he has has, and has made his own opportunities as well. He is one of our go to guys if we need something accomplished.”
Bradley plans to attend Grace College in the fall to begin a four-year master’s program with a double major in marketing and business administration. On his professional plans Micah stated, “Ideally I would like to run a small business at some point. If not that then help manage one. I like the small business atmosphere. My dad has had a couple of small businesses in the past and I have always liked that and enjoyed learning from him.”
