Purdue Grad To Step Down As McDonald’s CEO
The board of directors of McDonald’s Corporation announced Jan. 28 that Don Thompson will retire as president and CEO after almost 25 years of service to the company, effective March 1.
Thompson is a Purdue University graduate and attended North Central High School in Indianapolis. He was named CEO in 2012.
“It’s tough to say goodbye to the McFamily, but there is a time and season for everything,” said Thompson in announcing his retirement.
The board has elected Steve Easterbrook to replace Thompson. He was previously the senior executive vice president and chief brand officer, as well as serving as president of McDonald’s Europe.
