Warsaw Police Sgt. Bob Long is retiring from the department following 34 years of service.

An open house is planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the Warsaw Police Department, 2191 E. Fort Wayne St.

The public is invited to attend.

Long started with the Warsaw Police Department on Feb. 1, 1981 and graduated from the law enforcement academy in September 1983.

He was promoted to corporal in 1987, then to sergeant in 1990. Long was a certified K-9 handler from 1989-1996 with Warsaw’s first K9 officer “Jimmy.”

Long was a certified instructor for defensive tactics, baton, handcuffing, flashlight, kubaton and hand to hand combat and is a certified breath test operator.
