Pilgrims Handle Warriors In NLC Hoops
PLYMOUTH – A tough second half proved costly to the Wawasee girls basketball team Saturday night.
The Warriors were outscored 36-15 in the second half in dropping a 51-34 final to host Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Wawasee trailed 12-8 after the opening period before taking a 19-15 halftime lead. Plymouth responded with a 17-5 scoring edge in the third period to take control of the contest.
Kylee Rostochak led Wawasee with 10 points.
Hannah-Marie Lamle scored seven points and Alissa Flores six for the Warriors. Elizabeth Jackson added five points.
Hunter Stevens scored a game-high 18 points to pace Plymouth. Haley Harrell had 15 points and Kaydon Fosler 10 for the winners.
Wawasee, which has lost six in a row, drops to 4-14 overall and 0-5 in the NLC. Plymouth, which has won its last four games, improves to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in the NLC.
Plymouth won the junior varsity game 42-28.
Wawasee hosts Tippecanoe Valley and Plymouth plays at South Bend Clay both on Tuesday night.
