Triton Tripped Up Again By Culver
LAKEVILLE – For the second time in the past week, Culver had Triton’s number in girls basketball action Thursday night.
The Cavaliers held off the Trojans 41-32 in a semifinal game of the TCU Bi-County Tournament played at LaVile High School.
Culver, which won a conference game 40-38 in double overtime at Triton on Jan. 16, advances to the championship contest back at LaVille Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
The Trojans trailed 13-8 after the opening quarter and 17-11 at halftime. Triton shot just 4-12 from the field in the opening half.
Becca Kennedy led Triton with eight points. Kylie Mason scored seven points and Hannah Wanemacher six.
Donna Zehner netted 14 points and Mickella Hardy 13 for Culver.
Triton shot 13-30 from the field for the game, including 6-13 on 3-pointers. The Trojans were just 0-2 from the free throw line.
Culver shot 13-27 from the field in the win and hit 13-16 free throw tries.
Triton drops to 12-7 and Culver improves to 15-3.
The Trojans play at Manchester Tuesday night.
