Legacy Five And Signature Sound Concert In Syracuse
Two highly acclaimed gospel singing groups will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Wawasee High School, 12659 N. Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse.
Legacy Five with appear along with special guests Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
“This year’s concert is special in that it is our 25th year of doing concerts,” said Phil Gingerich, who schedules the annual events.
Gingerich explained the history of the musical series. “It began with the Cathedral Quartet coming to the Milford Junior High school gym for the first several years,” he said. “Then that was so packed we had to move to the high school gym. Upon the Cathedrals’ retirement in 1999, Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett started Legacy Five and Ernie started Signature Sound.
“We have had concerts with Legacy Five every year since they started. For this special anniversary it seemed only fitting to put these two groups back together for this concert,” said Gingerich. “This will be the first time these two groups have ever done a full concert together. It will be exciting with a lot of laughs and old stories.”
Legacy Five, a southern gospel group, debuted in Atlanta in January 2000. They have been nominated by Singing News magazine for 75 fan awards. They have won the Southern Gospel Music Association Recording of the Year and have been twice nominated for Dove awards.
The quintet has performed with the Gaithers and Their Homecoming Friends and has appeared on TNN, TBN, Sky Angel, INSP, GMT, The Odyssey Network and a host of local channels.
Since their beginning in 2003, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound have sung at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Dallas Cowboys stadium and throughout the country on a tour of American theaters. They have also performed in Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Hungary and Latvia.
The Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning quartet has produced several gold and platinum DVDs.
