Fast Start Keys Triton Win
LAKEVILLE – A big first quarter set the tone for the Triton girls basketball team Tuesday night.
The Trojans got off to a fast start and went on to defeat host LaVille 49-34 in a first-round game of the Bi-County Tournament.
Triton led 21-9 after the first quarter and 31-14 at halftime of the win.
Kylie Mason hit 7-11 shots from the field to lead the way for Triton with a game-high 17 points.
Jaela Meister had 15 points and eight rebounds for the winners. Becca Kennedy scored seven points and Nichole Sechrist six.
McKenzie Leed and Aryn Eash each had 12 points to lead LaVille.
Triton shot 19-34 from the field in the win. The host Lancer were just 13-40.
Triton improves to 12-6 on the season and will return to LaVille Thursday night to play Culver in a semifinal game of the tourney at 8 p.m. Culver defeated Triton 40-38 in double overtime last Friday.
LaVille drops to 7-10 and will play in a consolation game at home on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again Feb. 6 back at LaVille for a Northern State Conference game.
