Two Italian Car Production Companies Expanding To Indiana
Two Italian car production companies, OMR and Sirmax, announced plans to build new facilities in central Indiana during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit today.
OMR, which manufactures parts such as chassis, engine supports and suspensions for the Fiat Group will build its North American headquarters in Speedway. Ground breaking for the $10 million facility is set for April, with hiring of up to 60 new jobs to begin near the end of 2015.
Sirmax produces and supplies plastic compounds and resins used in the automotive, home appliance, electrical and furniture industries. It has already begun construction on an old GM guide lamp factory in Anderson. The facility will create an estimated 50 new jobs and $25 million in investments.
“Indiana’s motor vehicle industry is prominent around the world. Companies like Toyota, Honda and Subaru helped launch the international automotive presence in Indiana that has multiplied in recent years, proving Indiana is a state that works for the automotive industry,” said Governor Mike Pence, who was in attendance at the auto show for the announcements.
