Warsaw Sweeps Triton JV
BOURBON – The varsity teams had their turns Friday night, and Monday night, the junior varsity basketball teams from Triton and Warsaw met.
Warsaw was able to jump out to a big lead in the girls game, taking a 35-7 lead at the half, to rout Triton 43-15. The Tiger boys also built a lead on Triton, but needed to hang on for a 36-31 victory.
Warsaw’s Bishop Harrison led Warsaw with 10 points and added two rebounds and a steal in the win. Braxton Minix added seven points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Triton had Zac Pitney lead all scorers with 15 points while Nathan Flenar added eight points and three boards.
Warsaw led 17-12 at the break and withstood Triton scoring 11 of the game’s final 14 points.
Warsaw’s girls had a much easier road, blazing out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
Individual statistics for Warsaw were not provided, but Triton’s Hannah Wanemacher recorded seven points in the losing effort.
