Have you made a New Year’s resolution? The library can help you keep your 2015 resolution with our large collection of self-help books including many new arrivals.
You will find books on nutrition and healthy living, parenting, motivation, setting goals, habit cessation, spirituality, and titles covering many other topics. Some are available in large print and audio books as well. Stop by and browse through our collection for the help you need to achieve your goals. You can also browse our online catalog at www.nweb.lib.in.us to find the books you need.
If losing weight is your goal, come to Lose It at The Library at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. This free weekly weight loss support program provides encouragement, education, and accountability to help participants achieve their weight loss goals. Led by retired nurse Mary Erb, the program includes weekly confidential weigh-ins to track each participant’s progress, walking exercise, and informative programs covering nutrition, health, strategies, motivation, and other topics. Special speakers with various areas of expertise also present programs. Lose It at The Library is open to all adults and provides a fun and friendly environment to help shed unwanted pounds.
Perhaps you’ve resolved to learn more about your family history. The Glean Team is a group of experienced genealogists that help each other in their research and collaborate on genealogy projects. The group meets at 10 a.m. the first three Wednesdays each month. Field trips to research libraries, cemeteries, historical sites and other places of interest are also planned from time to time throughout the year. The next meeting will be Jan. 7 and new members are always welcome.
In the Youth Department, Crafts and Stories continue from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday after school for children in kindergarten through third grade. Bring the kids next Tuesday, Jan. 6, to create a fun craft while Mrs. Pam reads stories. It’s a constructive after school activity for younger grade schoolers.
Don’t forget the Second Saturday LEGO Club from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 10, for children ages 5 to 12. It’s a fun way for parents and children to spend quality time together. The library supplies the LEGOs and the kids are encouraged to build anything their imaginations dream up.
