Milford Library News And Events

Milford library news and events this week:
Adult Reading Program
‘Escape the Ordinary’ is the theme of the library’s winter adult reading club. Patrons are invited to try something new this winter, exploring heroes, superheroes and other extraordinary people, places and events. Try reading something in a new genre, attend a superhero movie, honor local heroes or enter a historic heroine look alike contest. All patrons 18 and up are invited to participate.
Registration begins Friday, Jan. 2. Beginning Friday, Jan. 9, Fridays are now ‘Hot Chocolate Fridays’. Adults are invited to have a delicious hot chocolate drink and sit and visit with other patrons in the upstairs area of the library. Anyone who would like to fill out a snowflake recommendation form can let other people know what they have been reading and share suggested titles with other library patrons.
There will be special activities each month, so keep watching for more information. Beginning the week of Friday, Jan. 9, for each book read or book on CD listened to, participants can place their name in a weekly drawing for the chance to win a fabulous prize. We hope our prizes help you escape the ordinary this winter.
Memory Making Monday
From 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5 in the library meeting room, Melinda Roose will be showing us new scrap-booking techniques we can use in our daily scrap-booking. Call (574) 658-9157 for more details.
After School is Cool
At 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, After School is Cool club will be meeting for craft day. Bring your friends and come make paper plate snowmen in the library meeting room. After creating your paper plate snowman, enjoy a snack of snow ice cream if there is snow on the ground, and snowman poop. Remember that each event you attend earns you 10 points. When you have 40 points you can choose a paperback book to add to your home library.
Friends of the Library
Do you have lots of books or magazines laying around the house, gathering dust? Why not donate them to the library for others to buy and read! The Friends of the Library welcomes all your donations of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, and sheet music.
Feel free to go through our collection and purchase a few things as well. Each book/cd costs 50 cents. All proceeds go back to the library.
The Friends will not be meeting during the months of January and February. Their next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 in the library meeting room. The friends are also selling cloth book bags for $12. Come in and purchase a bag at the circulation desk upstairs and support your local library.
