400th Baby of the Year Born at Parkview
The family birthing center at Parkview Whitley Hospital welcomed it’s 400th baby of the year on Dec. 23, making 2014 the first time the hospital has delivered 400 babies in a single year.
Parents Brandon and Kailee Weaver welcomed their third child, Nash. Baby Nash joins his family not only just in time for Christmas, but also right before his father, a member of the United States Marine Corps, prepares to deploy.
The closest Parkview Whitley Hospital had previously come to delivering 400 babies in a single year was in 1996, when the team in the family birthing center welcomed 371 babies. Hospital officials credit a number of factors for the increase in the number of children born at PWH, including the award-winning medical team, birth planning services and support classes for parents.
“Recognizing the desired experience of each parent will be different is important,” said Scott Gabriel, PWH president. “Our physicians and nurses and the care they provide is also a vital aspect of this growth we’re seeing in Parkview Whitley.”
