Domminich Shaw, 35, from London, England, has been extradited to Indiana to face charges in an extensive child pornography case. He has been a target of law enforcement officials in the US and Europe since 2011.
Shaw is accused of conspiring to distribute child pornography and sexually exploiting children. According to acting US attorney Josh Minkler, much of Shaw’s collection featured children under the age of five.
Shaw was indicted in February 2011 in Indiana and arrested in the UK, where he has remained in custody ever since. He arrived for his initial court appearance Dec. 20, escorted by FBI agents.
Several co-defendants in the case have already been convicted in US courts and are currently serving time in federal prison. Shaw’s charges include sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child pornography, conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to distribute and receive child pornography. He faces lifetime imprisonment if convicted.
The investigation is a result of the combined efforts of the FBI, Indiana State Police, Kokomo Police Department and Brownsburg Police Department. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
