Middlebury woman killed in three vehicle accident
A Middlebury woman was killed Tuesday, Dec. 16, in a three vehicle accident at the intersection of US 20 and CR 33.
Police and fire crews responded at 11:48 a.m. after a vehicle slowing down to turn was struck from the rear, pushing it into the path of a semi head-on. The semi rolled on its side and went off the road, catching on fire.
Carolyn Moses, 55, was the driver that was killed. The vehicle that struck her was driven by Devin Steurer, 17, of Middlebury. He was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital with chest pain. The semi driver, Carl Forgey of Camden, IN, was not injured. However, his semi was carrying cattle that had to be rescued and transported from the scene. Some died in the crash and resulting fire.
The accident remains under investigation.
