Wal-Mart Teams With Salvation Army For Fill The Truck
Wal-Mart of Warsaw is participating in a national campaign to support The Salvation Army with its efforts during the holidays to help those in need. A display will be at the front of the store near the Market entrance where donors can leave new toys and new or gently used coats.
The collection will take place from Saturday, Dec. 13 through Saturday, Dec. 20. Items collected will support the Angel Tree program of the Salvation Army that serves Kosciusko County.
“We are very grateful to Wal-Mart for this important partnership; we know our generous community will continue to support our local Christmas assistance efforts by participating in donating toys and coats for local children and families this year” said, Lt. Esteban Pommier, commanding officer at The Salvation Army.
“Wal-Mart has a long-standing tradition of allowing volunteer bell ringers to share the joy of the holidays to our customers; we are very pleased this partnership is now expanding to reach even more people through Fill The Truck.” said Brock Heyneman, store manager at Wal-Mart.
Ken Locke, community ministries director at The Salvation Army added, “We are working on strengthening our Christmas distribution programs by connecting each family we help to the different family support services we provide during the week, such as Kids Club and other small support groups. We ultimately want each family we serve to have a strong support system and to be connected to a strong community and The Salvation Army can provide that”.
In December alone, The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County will be providing over 5,000 meals and 3,000 presents to children and older adults. Toys and coats can be dropped at the Wal-Mart Super Center located at 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw.
Donations can be mailed to P. O. Box 1257, Warsaw.
