Undefeated Marian Stymies Trojans
MISHAWAKA – Undefeated Mishawaka Marian put the defensive clamps on Triton Saturday night.
The host Knights rode a strong defensive effort to a 49-32 win over the Trojans in a non-conference boys basketball contest.
Marian allowed the Trojans no more than nine points in any one quarter in the win.
The Knights, who improve to 4-0, were allowing 49 points-per-game prior to Saturday night. Triton came into the contest averaging 52 ppg. and the 32 was a season low.
Marian led 9-7 after the opening period and 22-14 at halftime. The Knights then outscored Triton 27-18 in the final half.
Senior standout Devin Cannady, who has committed to play at Princeton next year, led the Knights with 13 points. Cannady hit three treys for the winners.
Nick Harris and Jair Rodgers each added eight points for Marian.
Joey Corder led the way for Triton with 10 points.
Grant Johnson had eight points and Jordan Anderson and Skyler Reichert each finished with six for the Trojans.
Triton, now 2-3, will play at Bethany Christian Tuesday night. Marian plays at South Bend  Washington Thursday night.
