Kosciusko FOP Awards Popenfoose For Hole In One At Golf Outing

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputy Jon Popenfoose was recently awarded and recognized for his “hole-in-one” shot during the 2014 Kosciusko County FOP memorial golf outing.
Popenfoose had recorded his shot at the Rozella Ford Gold Course this summer during the annual FOP scholarship golf outing. The event provides funding towards two scholarships for local college students that pursuing either a degree in the law enforcement or in public service, such as nursing, corrections, or public safety.
Kerlin Trailers, Motorsports, & Western World provided a 2014 Arctic Cat ATV as the award for obtaining a “hole-in-one” during the event.
The Kosciusko County FOP scholarship program was started in 2006 in remembrance for local law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Det./Sgt. Phil Hochstetler was shot and killed in 1994 during a criminal investigation.
ISP Trooper Jason Beal was assisting a motorist on SR 14 in Kosciusko County when he was struck and killed by another motorist in 2000.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jeff Shaw was attempting to locate children in the roadway when a truck crossed the center line of SR 14 striking his vehicle head-on and killing him in 2009.
