Second Half Serves Warriors Well
SYRACUSE – Needing a second-half spark, Wawasee used its defense to its advantage to earn a win Tuesday night. Holding a red-hot John Glenn team to just 10 points in the second half, the Warrior boys basketball team was able to rally to a 52-45 win at the Hardwood Teepee.
John Glenn was on fire to open the game, hitting five three-pointers in the first half and jumping out to a 35-30 lead at the half. But the second half was a completely different story for the Falcons, which hit just three jump shots in the final 16 minutes as Wawasee was able to outscore Glenn 22-10 in the second half to capture its fourth victory of the season.
Wawasee (4-1) had three players in double digits scoring, led by Alex Clark’s 16 points. Clark scored 11 of his 16 in the second half. Gage Reinhard scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half. Aaron Voirol was an equal opportunity scorer, spreading out his 12 points throughout the first three quarters.
John Glenn (3-2) had Alec Runyan pace the club with 15 points and Calvin Kretchmer score all 11 of his points in that wild first half. Drew McDonald scored all eight points in the first quarter.
Glenn’s junior varsity begin the night on a positive note, beating Wawasee 51-44.
Wawasee and Glenn will both be in action this Saturday, Wawasee hosting Whitko and Glenn hosting Tippecanoe Valley.
