Purdue University student/entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to compete for more than $10,000 in seed funds to support the commercialization of their online and mobile media technology innovations at the Fourth Annual Schurz Innovation Challenge.
There will be 13 student teams competing for the funds during competition, which will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 in the Richard and Patricia Lawson Computer Science Building, 305 North University St., on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus.
Judges for the event include successful business leaders and entrepreneurs. Winners will be announced around 8 p.m. The top three winning innovations will receive $5,000, $3,500, $1,500 for first-, second- and third-place, respectively, and another $500 will be awarded for the Crowd Favorite Award.
The program is sponsored by Schurz Communications, a Mishawaka, Indiana-based communications company, and by the Purdue Foundry, an entrepreneurial and commercialization hub in Discovery Park’s Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship.
