Pierceton Town Council Approves Water, Sewer Increases
At last night’s Pierceton Town Council meeting a public hearing was held for two ordinances that will raise sewer and water rates.
According to Pierceton Clerk/Treasurer Janet Castle, there were no comments from the public regarding ordinances 2014-11-1 and 2014-11-2.
Castled reports that the new ordinances will raise the minimum monthly bill for water, sewer and trash by approximately $7.50 per month. Once the ordinances go into effect the minimum monthly payment on these utilities is expected to be around $58.13. The ordinances do not affect the rates of trash collection, but all three utilities are bundled.
In the public notice that was printed on Nov. 20, updated rates are as follows:
Whitko Middle School Principal Parrish Kruger came before the board to offer an update on the school resource officer. The town of Pierceton paid for the SRO training.
Additionally, Pierceton Town Marshal Tim Sammons stated that there was no funding for the D.A.R.E. program this year. However, he planned to meet with the Pierceton fifth graders, currently attending Whitko Middle School, several times throughout the year to do drug education.
The next Pierceton Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12.
