Cellphone Tower Approved By BZA
There will be another cellphone tower in the landscape of Van Buren Township. During the regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals Tuesday in Warsaw, the BZA approved a petition for Central States Tower to erect a 199-foot cellphone tower on the south side of CR 1250N, west of Creek Bend Lane.
Central States Tower was also granted a variance to allow the tower to be located 14 feet from the east side line and to allow it to be constructed within 5 feet of another communications tower.
Other agenda items included:
• Dennis Pressler’s petition was tabled until the Jan. 13 meeting because he adjusted his plans for construction of a residence addition on EMS D15 Lane, west of CR 500E in Turkey Creek Township.
• Tim Howat was granted approval to allow a gazebo to remain on a tract of ground without a residence and to allow a camper to come in and out of the property for overflow guests on SR 25 in Harrison Township. A variance was also granted for the gazebo to remain 37.75 feet from the right of way and the camper to be placed on an existing pad 38 feet, 5 inches from the right of way.
• Bryan Moriarty was granted a variance to allow an existing residence addition to remain as placed and an existing enclosed lean-to to remain as placed on the north side of Broadway Street in Etna Green.
• Adam and Chelsey Moore were granted a variance to permit the construction of a residence 8 feet, 7 inches from the east right of way, not 4 feet, 8 inches as they requested, in Redmon Park at Dewart Lake in Van Buren Township.
• Michael Burke was granted a variance to allow a shed to be placed 15 feet from the right of way on EMS T3 Lane, west of CR 675E in Tippecanoe Township.
• Terry and Ruth Runyon were granted a variance to allow a residence addition 0 feet from a northwest right of way and 31 feet from the southwest right of way on Pheasant Place, northeast of Pelican Way in Seward Township.
• Charles Richardson was granted a variance to permit the construction of a new residence with a walkout storage area on Southshore Drive at Lake Wawasee in Turkey Creek Township.
• Patrick Higgins’ petition for a planned unit development on agriculturally zoned property on Chapman Lake Drive, north of Greystone Drive in Plain Township, was tabled until the Jan. 13 meeting to allow for a more detailed site plan to be developed to address, for example, what screening will look like.
• Michael Mettham was granted an exception for animal kennel services on commercial property on SR 13, south of CR 500N, in Tippecanoe Township.
• William Hess was granted a variance to permit the construction of a open carport, but the supporting posts must be at least 10 feet back from the edge of the road on Island Avenue at Lake Wawasee in Turkey Creek Township.
• Etta Hochstetler was granted an exception for a home based business, a bicycle shop, on the south side of CR 1350N at the intersection with CR 950W in Scott Township.
• Stephen Holland was granted a variance to permit allowing a residence addition on EMS T31 Lane, east of EMS T32A Lane in Plain Township.
