Benton Subdues LCA
WINONA LAKE – Benton must have felt right at home, using a huge first half to buzz past Lakeland Christian Academy, 60-28, Tuesday night in boys basketball at LCA.
The home school had seven different players score in the first half, taking a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and dropping 21 more points heading into half while LCA scored a mere three points in the second quarter falling behind by 31 at the break.
Benton hit six three-pointers in the game and had Luke Vaughn lead the team with 14 points while Jacob Maurer had two of the six bombs and finished with 13 points. Vince Tyson added nine points and Brad Martin and Alex Tyson each scored eight points.
Connor Blum led the Cougars with 14 points, but was only one of two players to score in the troublesome first half. Josh McDaniel added five points and Noah Twombly returned to the lineup after a short stint on the pine to add four points.
LCA (0-4) will look for its first win Saturday when it hosts South Bend Trinity.
