Frantz Sets Scoring Mark For Panthers
NAPPANEE – Jordyn Frantz added another impressive accomplishment to her already outstanding high school basketball resume Saturday.
Frantz etched her name into the school record books by pouring in a program best 42 points as NorthWood outlasted LaPorte 80-77 in triple overtime in non-conference girls basketball action.
Frantz, a 6-0 senior guard, hit 10 field goals with five of them being 3-pointers. She also went 17-18 from the free throw line in the record-setting performance.
The previous single-game scoring record for the Panther program was 35 points by Natalie Will versus South Bend Adams during the 1998-99 season.
Frantz, who recently signed to play next year at NCAA Division I St. Louis University, was a first-team All-NLC pick last year when she was co-MVP of the Panthers. A three-year starter, Frantz was also an AP honorable mention all-state selection and on the Indiana Junior All-Star team.
Frantz scored her 1,000th career point back on Nov. 22 as the Panthers beat Norwell 68-56 in the Panther Pit.
Coach Adam Yoder’s NorthWood squad, which improved to 4-3 with the win Saturday, will play at Elkhart Central Tuesday night.
