Warsaw Ladies Run In Foot Locker Event
Several members of the Warsaw girls cross country program braved the cold, snow and mud Saturday to compete in the Foot Locker Midwest Championships.
The duo of sophomore Allison Miller and junior Hannah Dawson competed in the Seeded Division at the event held in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Miller placed 109th in the race in a time of 20:00. Dawson finished 159th in the field in a time of 21:18.
Senior Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka, who won the Indiana state cross country individual title in October, won the race in a time of 16:57.
Maddie Woods, a senior at Penn High School, placed 22nd in the Seeded Division with a time of 18:20.
The Warsaw trio of freshman Mia Beckham and sophomores Lauren and Charlene Orr took part in the Freshman/Sophomore race. Beckham captured a ninth-place finish with a time of 20:47. Lauren Orr finished 17th in 21:12 and Charlene Orr was 44th in 22:50.
Sophomore Paige Boatright, who lives in New Haven, won the Freshman/Sophomore race in a top time of 20:03.
The duo of Remi Beckham and Megan Dawson from Warsaw competed in the Youth Division Race. Beckham placed 69th and Dawson 75th.
The Warsaw girls cross country team, coached by Matt Campbell, placed 16th at the IHSAA State Finals held in Terre Haute in October. The foursome of Miller, Dawson, Mia Beckham and Charlene Orr were part of that state finals contingent for the Tigers.
The Midwest Championships featured some of the top runners from Indiana, Illinois,
Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
