Icy roadways and blowing winds contributed to a single-vehicle accident on West US 30, east of North CR 500W at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Police report both lanes on US 30 were covered in ice.
Initially reported on US 30, near CR 350W, the accident was several miles down the road.
Donald L. Hobbs, 73, Hilmer Court, Fort Wayne, was eastbound on US 30. He stated both lanes of travel were ice covered and the wind was blowing, causing him to loose control of his vehicle. The vehicle went off the north side of the roadway, coming to rest on the passenger side of the truck.
Damage was up to $25,000.
Emergency personnel are currently responding to a reported rollover on US 30.
