Notre Dame AD To Speak At Chamber Banquet
Kosciusko County’s Chamber of Commerce will welcome special guest Jack Swarbrick Jr. to it’s annual Chamber Membership Banquet on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center at Grace College. Swarbrick serves as both the athletic director and vice president of Notre Dame and has been the catalyst for many important initiatives at the university. Under Swarbrick’s watch in the past few years Notre Dame has received membership into the Atlantic Coast Conference for all sports teams except for hockey and football. Swarbrick also landed the school a very lucrative sponsorship from athletic apparel company Under Armour.
Swarbrick, a 1976 Notre Dame graduate, is currently in his seventh year as the school’s head of athletics. Under his watch, the 2012 Notre Dame football team finished with a perfect regular season record before falling to the University of Alabama in the national championship. He has overseen three national championship teams, one each in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and fencing.
Swarbrick graduated from Stanford University Law School in 1980 and accepted a job at the Indianapolis law firm of Baker & Daniels. He made partner in 1987 and spent 28 years at the firm prior to returning to Notre Dame.
Swarbrick also served as the chairman of the Indiana Sports Corporation from 1992 to 2001 where he helped establish Indianapolis as the home of the NCAA, while also helping bring the 2012 NFL Super Bowl and multiple Final Fours to the city.
